Former Cowboy tries to work his way back

IRVING — Pete Hunter was back in Texas Stadium last week, running and defending wide receivers on the same turf as when he played for the Dallas Cowboys.

The former fifth-round draft pick had on a helmet and shoulder pads, but it was a Dallas Desperados’ logo on that helmet, not that of the five-time Super Bowl champions. It’s hopefully another step in a winding road back to the NFL for Hunter, or possibly the start of what could become a promising career in the Arena Football League.

‘That’s definitely my goal,’ Hunter said of getting back to the NFL. ‘I know my chances are small. I’m going to keep working hard and try to do the things I can control and not worry about the things I can’t.’ Read more
